Hey there everyone! I can’t believe it’s October 1st already! Time for a new challenge here at Creative Embellishments. This month, I was inspired by the trees, purple and black in the photo and decided to create a Halloween home decor piece using one of the Large Tags as my base. I added Modge Podge to it and then patterned papers from my stash. I used acrylic paints to color the Creepy Trees and Happy Halloween. I used the tombstone, pumpkin, spiderweb and owl from Halloween Scene 2 and painted those with acrylic paints as well. You can see more on my BLOG. I am looking forward to seeing what you create this month!

Well, Hello October! Nice to see you, ole friend!

This month we have a fun mood board for all you Halloween lovers. Time to get your “creep” on! After a failed attempt at a spooky canvas, I turned to what I knew I could master … flowers and pretty paper! I really wanted to use the Wicked Pocket Card, so I inked it up and laid it on a bed of purple flowers and fun Halloween papers from Graphic 45. It looks better on a card than on that spooky canvas.  To carry the theme a little farther, I finally got around to using these adorable witches legs from the Witch Set and layered them under the wood veneer pocket card. They were painted with watercolors and some gold metallic wax. So cute and ready for sending! And believe me, for the twist, there is lots of really old stash on this guy! Now, it’s your turn! What will you create this month?

Hello friends!  Here we are at the October Challenge!  This year is just flying by!  We have already had snow in the mountains here in Wyoming!

With Fall here it brings so many fun Holidays and celebrations.  I made this tag in celebration of Halloween!

I used Creative Embellishments Creepy Trees and Web Borders.

To alter the chipboard I used Versa Mark clear embossing ink and Black Sparkle Embossing Powder.

I used some older Halloween paper I found in my stash as well as the flowers.  To finish off this large tag I added some ribbon.

Hope you will play along with us for the October Challenge!

Bloody Bones with Jess Larios

Today I have something different for your eyes to feast upon. A festive Halloween shadowbox scene using quite a few chipboard pieces to bring it all together. I was inspired by the skeleton in the inspiration photo, of course. But I obviously decided to take it in a whole different direction. The twist to the challenge was to use some old scrappy products. The paper elements are from an old collection I’ve had just chillin’ in my craft room. I wanted to create outside the ordinary box, but also highlight the potential of the chipboard pieces in how they can help create scenes and rooms. The only thing stopping us is our imaginations.
Begin by cutting a wallpaper-styled background. I chose a textured paper giving it an extra dimension. Next, cut out the skeleton from paper twice, layered him, distressed him, and curled his fingers a bit to bring him to life. Giving the piece the feel of a room is the Chandelier which is altered using embossing power and clear sticker dots. Alter the Bones using some gloss heavy body bone-colored acrylic paint. Then distress them using black ink giving them more depth and dimension. Now you can lay everything down piece by piece. Use some acrylic paint to fill some miniature bottles. Let them dry a bit before plugging them closed permanently. Use some eyelet screws and chains to hang from the top of the box giving it an extra creepy feel. Can’t forget about the outside, right?! Add some texture using a stencil of your choice. I used my own homemade texture paste and colored it gray using acrylic paint. Distress the texture using black ink. Finally, add some bone acrylic pieces to the floor of the room and skulls to the top. I used some jute string to tie together the smaller skulls. I thought this gave them an extra touch of creepy.
Hi everyone!  Welcome to the October Challenge!  Hard to believe it’s October already.  Looking forward to some cooler days here in Maryland.  I had a lot of fun working on my canvas.  I used several chipboard pieces from the store, Creepy Trees,  Bats Set,  Skull and Bones Corner,  Tombstones,   Pumpkins and Pumpkin Vine Flourish. All chipboard was treated with various colors of paint, ink and embossing powders.  I used the Distressed Crackle Stamp on the canvas and also on the Tombstones and Creepy Trees.  The twist, use your stash.  I used some purple flowers.  Hope you’ll join us this month.
Large Chipboard Halloween Tag with Owls, Bats, and Skulls
Hi friends! I feel like I wait for the October challenge all year. It’s super fun to let my darker side out to play. The old stash portion of this challenge is so perfect for me. I’ve been saving this piece of patterned paper and printed overlay designed by Marah Johnson for Creative Imaginations for years. I stared with a Large Tag and then applied patterned paper and pieces of a printed overlay. I created a creepy scene using the Owl on Branch, several wood veneer bats from the Going Batty Set, and the individual skulls from the Skulls and Bones Set. I used a combination of dye ink, iridescent ink, and acrylic paint on the wood veneer and chipboard pieces to create a grungy finish. I can’t wait to see what you create!
Maggi Harding – Scrap, Travel & Bark!
It’s my favorite scrappy month of the year! I just love Halloween projects; I think its the bright oranges, greens, yellows and purples so predominant in the Halloween color palette.  I’ve use chipboard, acrylics and a stencil to create these fun Witch Legs.  I stenciled on  the  boots using the  Halloween Stencil.  That  awesome spiderweb is Caught in my Web  chippy topped  with a Spider.  I used the Happy Halloween – Title on the right boot and my favorite piece, the Black Acrylic Skull and Bones.
I can’t wait to see your spooky creations!!  xxoo Maggi
Its October 1st which means it is spooky season…time for all things creepy and crawly, ghosts and goblins, witches and warlocks and my favorite – Horror movies!  It also means it is time for a spooky new challenge at Creative Embellishments!
For my inspiration I used the Haunted House, Large Branch, Witches, Pumpkin Faces, Beach Fence, Tombstone border, and Skulls and Bones.  Looking forward to seeing all your entries!

I love the challenges each month from Creative Embellishments, and this one was particularly fun. I love to create spooky little cards and such for Halloween.

Creative Embellishments Chipboard Used:
Witches
Fancy Oval Frame Set

The twist this month was to dig something out of your crafty stash…well I covered the oval frame using an embossing powder that I have had for…..well A LOT of years. Then come to find out, it had never been opened haha
I then covered the witch image using a different (charred gold) embossing powder. I added the chipboard pieces to a layered card base. For all of the details, pop on over to my blog HERE.
