Hello CE friends!!  Nicolle here today sharing a super quick post of an altered wood tombstone piece.

I started with our 3/16″ thick birch wood tombstone.

I then layered with the letters RIP and cobblestones and applied the pieces with gorilla wood glue.

To get that texture  … I mixed black and grey acrylic or latex indoor house paint. I used what I had on hand. I added a bit of plaster of paris and sand for the texture. I don’t have exact measurements however the consistency was similar to a pancake batter.

To achieve the “concrete” aged look to the tombstone I then sprayed black over and immediately a dark gray spray paint so the would kind of mix and blend. Surprisingly it worked.

Lastly I dry brushed white chalk paint. You can buy or make your own. I made my own using white latex house paint and plaster of paris. You can find many different recipes when searching on google or pinterest. To protect the tombstone through the harsh Buffalo weather I sprayed a couple clear coats of spray paint to seal everything.

Thanks for stopping by.
