I retire from the Federal Government in 2 weeks, and we have had nothing but sunny weather for the last week, and all I can think about is SUMMERTIME!!  Yep, I’m dreaming and here’s the closest I have gotten, sitting on the deck and playing with my grandsons.  Look at these cutie pies flying their kites and playing in their rubber boots with their kitties joining in the fun.  They really do have 4 kitties.  This pic was taken at least 6 years ago and is one of my favorites.

I began by the using the Mintay paper collection “Berrylicious”.  It’s red, white, and blue and says summertime all over it.  After matting the boy’s photo I used gesso on the Love Arrow Set and applied it below the photo as an embellishment.  Cute huh?  Love the kitty pawing at the kite string on the side of the photo.

Here’s that kitty!!

I love kites, especially when they are make believe.  Have you ever seen a kite with a red gingham ties for a tail or made out of polka dots?  I sure haven’t.  So I decided to use some coordinating prints from the collection and decoupaged them using Mod Podge onto the Kites chipboard.  Then I tied fun ribbon for tails and strung the kites with fine crochet thread.

For the rest of the layout I added 49 and Market Flowers in Navy, Marina and Poppy.  I also popped a sweet little butterfly into the clusters to add some whimsy.

Hope you enjoyed my Summertime and Retirement Dream.  Next time we visit I will hopefully be officially retired after 39 1/2 years of Civil Service.  Sorry to make such a big deal about it, but I am sooooooo excited.  Hope you check back with us tomorrow for more creative fun.  Till then….
