Hello CE Scrappy Friends!! Today I’d love to share with you a double layout using the Mintay paper collection “Wilderness” to showcase Creative Embellishments chipboard and photos of the grandkids down at Homer, AK visiting the Kilcher Farm, which is where the TV show “Alaska – the Last Frontier” is filmed. It’s a show about a family and friends that are homesteading in the wilderness off the land. You can stop by and take scheduled tours through the farm (cause people do live and work the farm). My grandmother homesteaded in Homer, AK many years ago and not far from where this farm is. These pictures are of my daughter Jennifer with my 2 grandson, Chase and Cameron about 3-4 years ago. They have grown so much since them. The picture on the right is the front of the famous Kilcher cabin and the one on the right is the back of the cabin by their huge garden.
Starting on the left side and working towards the right at the top of the page I used one of the Pine Cone Clusters from the set of three. I painted it in acrylic paints from Art Alchemy “Hazelnut” and “Dark Forest”.
Right below the Pine Cone Cluster I used the Frond Set 6 which I painted with Art Alchemy “Stormy Oceans” my new FAVORITE color!!!!
There is another sweet chipboard foliage that I use frequently because it is so versatile. It can be a branch, tendril, or stalk rising from the ground. It’s the Mini Leaves Set 1. which I painted in “Dark Forest” I thought I would look cute to have the little deer munching on a couple branches. The larger deer I fussy cut and popped up for some dimension.
I did quite a bit of fussy cutting around the layout and popped the pieces up to get them to stand out including the little tree stump on the far left corner.
Right Side Layout
Starting back up at the top again I used another Pine Cone Cluster at the top right. Towards the middle I played around with the Hot Air Balloons . I am a real fan of hot air balloons and have not had a chance to use them much. This is the first opportunity I have had. I followed the color scheme from the designs of the balloons in the Mintay papers, but added some twine bows and 49 and Market flowers. The balloons were painted with acrylic paints by Art Alchemy “Stormy Oceans” and “Dragon’s Eye”. The “Dragon’s Eye” really glows in the dark and was a tuffy to photograph without creating a glare. I also used “Hazelnut” paint for the basket.
I also did some fussy cutting from the Mintay paper collection and then added one of my favorite chipboard pieces from the Tall Trees set. I used the “Stormy Oceans” acrylic paint on it and layered it heavily to create branch effects. Don’t you just love this color. It will be perfect for Christmas Trees!!!!!
And last is the title. I used the Adventure Word Set since the kids weren’t really camping on this trip, well they were, but not in this location. They were on an adventure to the Kilcher Farm to see what it is like to live off the land like the folks do out in the remote villages in Alaska where there are no grocery stores or roads to take them to get to a grocery store.
That’s it for me today. Hope you had a good time. Till we see you again, please stop back tomorrow for more fun and remember our Monthly Challenge and opportunity to win some of our wonderful chipboard! Have a great day!
