Lisa

As soon as I saw the quote for this challenge, I knew which photos I wanted to use. These photos were taken of my daughter in the airport in January. She was leaving to study abroad this semester in Germany.

I was inspired by the black and white photo and used black and white photos on my page. I was also inspired by the harlequin pattern in the photo. I misted my background and then used a mask and ink to add the harlequin pattern to the background. I also used black ink and the Distressed Text Stamp on my background. I used the Distressed Harlequin Pieces and added lots of ink to them. For my title, I used the Spread Your Wings chipboard pieces and used a few different pink mists to color them. To finish my layout off, I added a piece of chipboard Luggage and used the same inks as I did for the Harlequin Pieces.

I am excited to see your take on this challenge!

Sandi Clarkson

Hello, CE friends! Sandi here. Welcome to our March Challenge. This month I was inspired by the challenge image to dig out a discontinued paper line that was always a fave of mine. What’s even better is that one of papers mimics the harlequin design prominent in that black and white challenge image. So, I created a card and a tag, focusing on using the Clover Set of 3 which was altered differently on each item. For the card, I also added the phrase “Good Luck” from the Small Sentiment Words. The timing is perfect to send this to one of my daughters who just got a new job. Now, as for the tag, I wanted to demonstrate that the Clover could be used as more of a flourish or spray. It doesn’t have to be green, you know.  For whimsy, I added a butterfly from the Butterflies Set of 3.

Can’t wait to see what you create!

Debbie Burns

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today with my take on the March Challenge. I did some serious thinking when I first saw the mood board for the March Challenge.  So many elements from the picture to choose from.  I ultimately went with the mushrooms and created a forest themed canvas.  I used some Stamperia papers from their Wonderland collection.  I love the fairy and butterfly.  I built up textures on the canvas by adding some modeling paste with a stencil.  Next lots of layers of paint and waxes.  At the top of my canvas I used  the Flourish Set 18, which reminded me of wings.  I added a coat of blue and linen paints and dabbed some white gold wax.  To the left, I placed 3 mushrooms from the Mushroom Set 1.  I dabbed them with white gold wax and brown rust effect paste.  I covered the foliage from the Flourish Set 27 with some green ink and emerald wax and dabbed some white gold wax and added pieces to both side of the canvas. I hope you’ll join us this month!

Jennifer Snyder here to share my take on the March Challenge.  “Every great adventure requires a first step” and I am taking that literally.  What better adventure in life than to enjoy the adventures of a child – as a parent, grandparent, aunt, cousin…whatever the relationship.
I used Artist Trading Coins – LoveBaby Set and Valentines Sentiments simply painted with white acrylic.

Hi everyone and Happy March. Look how fun this month inspiration photo is…so many different ways to play along with it!! Mine is an adventure photo of my grandson and I have used the Infinite Rectangle Frame and Washi Tap Clusters to mat the photo. I also used a Cross Stitch Border chippy , the distressed Checkered stamp in the background and finished it all off with a piece from the Camera Border Word Set. I hope you all play along and I cant wait to see what you make!!!!!!!!

Tracy McLennon

Hello March! Whether it’s in like a lion or a lamb, I’m happy to see you!
I have got to say, I loved this month’s challenge from Creative Embellishments, I was truly inspired to create. I took my main inspirations from the diamond patterns in the image and the bold black and white colours.
Also, another source of inspiration was to come from the following quote:
“Every great adventure requires a first step.”
I think ART is a great adventure, you take that first step, brush stroke, or cut and then you just see where the adventure takes you.

I used the following chipboard and stamp from Creative Embellishments:
Grunge Corner, Grunge Harlequin Piece, Grunge Square Frames, Distressed Chevron Border, Shape Artist Trading Coins, Film Strip Stamp 1

Thanks for popping by, and happy crafting!

Mad Hatter and Alice Great Adventure Wonderland Mixed Media Art Board

Hi friends! I absolutely love the inspiration image this month! Rather than take inspiration from just one element, I went full on Wonderland and created this colorful whimsical piece. I started with the Alice in Wonderland Through an All New Looking Glass Paper Dollsbook by Charlotte Whatley. I cut the Mad Hatter and Alice dolls from the pages to use as the focal point of the board. I also cut out a glass bottle labeled ‘Drink Me.’ I covered the art board with torn papers from the Bo Bunny Star-Crossed collection. Once the papers were down, I applied watermark ink over the Galaxy Stencil and onto the Distressed Harlequin Stamp to add a second layer of stars and diamond shapes to the board. I sprinkled white embossing powder over the ink for a high contrast design. Next, I added purple heat embossed Distressed Harlequin Pieces, a glittery gold heat embossed Steampunk Pocket Watch, and a Mushroom Set, which I colored with acrylic and puffy paints, dye ink, and glitter. Once this layer of chipboard was secured to the board, I added the paper dolls, a vine of red roses, and a puffy heart sticker. Then, I added the Cheshire Cat quote using Dymo tape, and a pair of Wood Veneer (Cheshire) Cat Eyes, that I painted and glittered. To finish this piece, I wrapped the art board with a red and white harlequin shoe lace and secured to the board by tying it into a simple bow.
