Hello friends, I simply love going to Ikea and every time I stop by I always pick up some
of the plastic frames they carry, they are so much fun to alter.
I have a friend who is over the moon with steam punk and everything related to gears, cogs, rustic, clocks etc.
So as a gift I altered one of my Ikea frames for her, and this is what I created.
The first step is always going to be to take a pcs of sand paper and lightly sand the entire surface of my frame. I do this to
make sure the paint and mediums I use will have something to hold on to, since this is a plastic frame I didn’t want the paint to chip off and by sanding the surface first this wont happen.
I completely covered the front part with black gesso, gold acrylic paints, and mica powders in teal and cooper.
I used black card stock paper to fill in the photo slot. Once everything was dry I started to assemble my layout.
I used medium gel to adhere my chipboard pcs, polymer clay face, metal embellishments, and micro beads after
the medium gel dries I used the same black gesso, gold paint,
and mica powders to blend in all the elements I just adhered.
I let everything dry over night.
Once dry I I added my flowers and sentiment.
Thank you for stopping by and checking out my crafty project.
I hope you are inspired to create your own mixed media Steampunk Art.
