Hello crafty peep’s. I am so excited to share with you all my latest mixed media art doll. Please meet “ABYSS”.
I was so inspired to create her after 2 fun adventurous trips to see beautiful sea creatures. My first stop was a trip to Sea World a few weeks back on a girls day out with my Mom, sister, and sister in-law. And my second adventure was to the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific where my Hubby and I spent the day on a date.
I have also been so inspired by all the beautiful art my crafty DT sisters have created using G45’s New beautiful paper collection.
So its no wonder where my inspirations came from.
“ABYSS” like most of my art dolls first started as a sketch on my 20 x 18 inch watercolor paper.
I used creamy pastels, acrylic paints, lots of varnish, crackle medium, and mica powders to color this Sea world. I also did some stenciling with model paste to create texture on her hair, and water.
I also used micro beads in black and silver to give it the feel of tiny bubbles
This creation has taken me 2 weeks to complete, mostly it was my fear of messing her up after I sketched her, she is pretty big and did not feel like re-drawing her is I messed up so with fingers crossed I started to color her in and as I progressed my confidence grew. I had to make sure that once her face was colored I did not get it covered in paint and this was the tricky part of this creation.
I am so happy with how well she turned out.
I used tons of goodies from the shop to create this beautiful sea world.
I hope you all enjoy this art creation as much as I have.
Dont be afraid to create and think outside the box when using these fabulous chippies. As you can see they can be used to create beautiful worlds.
See you all next time, till then
Here is a list of chippies I used from the shop.
