Wow it’s already time for our November challenge. I hope everyone’s October was amazing!! Here in the USA we celebrate Thanksgiving this month. You do not have to celebrate to take part in this challenge. The way I see it anytime during the year is a reason to be thankful not matter where you live. This month you will be inspired by our inspiration picture below and show us what you are thankful for. If it isn’t obvious please let us know how you were inspired by in the picture and what you are thankful for in your post. We look forward to see what everyone creates.
Now on to see what our design team created.
Be sure to check out the new guidelines for our challenges below.
For my mixed media layout I was inspired by the Autumn colors and also the pumpkins. For the twist, I am thankful for too many things to count, but for this layout it is my parents. I stamped with the Distressed Burlap Rubber Stamp for the background and on top of the painted pumpkins and I also painted the Pumpkin Faces Laser Cut Chipboard with distress acrylic paint and also the Autumn Leaves (Set Of 6) wood veneer shapes and the Autumn Leaves Laser Cut Chipboard. To finish off the layout I added some gold and orange thread and layered some patterned papers before adhering the photo.
This months inspiration photo inspired me to do a fall themed layout. The twist is what you are thankful for…and I am so thankful for all the wonderful memories created with my family. The title chippy is from the Social Hash Tags package and I have used the Cat Tails chippys on the top right and bottom left. Leaving the chippys naked was perfect on this fall layout.
Autumn is my favorite season of the year! When walking amongst the trees I am thankful for the newly fallen leaves. They are magical as they flutter to the ground. The Fall Leaf set received a light coat of green ink and touched with Shimmerz Golden Wheat. The Mantle Steampunk time piece is from the Steampunk collection. I turned it upside down used a paper flower behind the clock for added interest , then I I used several didn’t paints and glazes to get just the right fall colors as seen in the inspiration photo.
As you see, I got my colors from our inspiration picture – I’m not the biggest fan of autumnal colors (red, orange, brown..) but this layout turned to be fabulous! I used two Creative Embellishments stamps to create my background: Circles Stamps and Distressed Chicken Wire Stamp. I wanted use Flourish 11 chipboard to decorate my page: I paint it with orange glitter paint and then added orange spray mist to add even more color and texture. Also, there is Season Change flair button, perfect to this page! I can not wait to see what you create!
I just love Fall’s warm tones and fresh feeling in the air. I love the golds and brown colors in the inspo pic. For the twist with the challenge it is to scrap something you are thankful for and seeing my daughter so happy with her boyfriend that is something I am most certainly thankful for! My kids are my world and them being happy makes my heart sing! The Chippies that I used was the “Love Bird” set and Flourish set 15. I also used the Crackle stamp (adore CE stamps!!) on the outside edges. For the chippies I colored them with a little inker. For the Flourishes I also applied a dew drop inker in gold to the leaves of the flourish. The cage and title was treated with a white dew drop and edged with a little inker in dark rust. For most all of the LO Flying Unicorn Nov KOM was used. Hope to see you all playing along with us this month!!
Although I live in Florida and Fall is merely a “myth” here, I truly LOVE the colors of Autumn! I was inspired by the overall “Fall” theme of the photo, the beautiful flowers in the background, and, of course, the pumpkins!!! I used the Ivy Wreath as a frame for my picture, coloring it with various Luminarte Silks to achieve my desired effect! The “Rings for so many Things” came in handy to add some detail to my background! I inked them with various distress inks and added a touch of Silks glaze for shimmer! Thanks for stopping in!!!
First I would like to mention what I am thankful for. It tickles me that my daughter Jolie spends a lot of time with her cousins. My cousin Shannon and I are close and always have a good time with each other. Jolie went to her first skate Bday party. It was in celebration of my niece Ally’s 11th Bday. They all have a blast and I am thankful they are able to spend so much fun time together. I was inspired by many different elements in the inspirations photo such as the colors, the round-ish objects and the wreath. I altered the braided wreath frame with a red/orange embossing powder. The rings for so many things were altered using 3d stamp paint and apricot silks acrylic glaze. The Happy Birthday title piece and page/photo corners set 1 were altered with a tim holtz brushed corduroy distress stain. I stamped the bokeh circle image on the background page using a prima chalk edger in rusty keys color.
This month was really challenging for me. I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving and where i live we don’t have a normal Fall season (in Florida its summer year round). I was really stumped for inspiration. After studying the photo, what stuck out to me was the food. I immediately thought of all of the times my daughter and i have cooked together. She loves helping me in the kitchen and I truly treasure all of these moments together with her. I hope to have many, many more as she grows. I love these Photo Booth Film Strips. I altered mine by painting it with Black Soot Distress Paint.
As life has thrown some curveballs my way lately, I need to remind myself to be thankful for the things wonderful in my life. The copper, browns, and greens remind me of fall. I used chit chat stickers to remind me of family, friendship, hope, dreams, etc. I layered some of them over the autumn leaves set.
