Happy Summer and July CE Friends!  Wow we are already half way through this year.  I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far.

It’s time for our monthly challenge! This month we are having a combined challenge with the gals over at Paper Wings Productions. We have our usual inspiration picture and the twist is to dry or heat emboss something on your project.  Please let  us know in your post how our  picture inspired your project. Be sure to stop by the  aviary (paper wings productions blog) to see what they created and  play along with theirs for a chance to win a 20.00 credit to their store.

Now lets see how the team was inspired.

This month’s challenge was to emboss on our project!   This was indeed a challenge for me!  I can’t remember the last time I embossed anything!  I decided to do a birthday card for my grandmother (she just turned 91).  I really love the wavy music note border so that’s where my inspiration began.   I was also inspired by the blue in the challenge photo.  I painted the heart silver with a sharpie!

The July inspiration photo at Creative Embellishments just screamed “end of the day relaxation” to me! Whether it be on vacation or at home, we all need to re-charge our batteries! One way I relax is by engaging in this fabulous hobby! And especially when I do a canvas because I can get really dirty and messy and if I make a mistake, it doesn’t matter! I can paint over it! Because my process was more complex than space permits here, I’ll refer you to my personal blog for more details. Just click on my name and that will take you there.  Creative Embellishments products used were  Steampunk Gear PanelCircle Bokeh Stamp,  Distressed Crackle Stamp and a CE Art Flair. It went perfectly with my quote from Picasso: “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” How much more relaxing can you get?  (BTW, photo credit to Maryjo Boughton Photography; snagged it off Pinterest!)
I hope that you can find time to play along with both these challenges this month! I did my project is just a few short hours one Sunday afternoon/evening!

The inspiration photo this month to me spoke thankfulness.  When i see time to relax with a beverage, its often at the end of a busy week, or relaxing on the weekend with my family.  Yes, i am so very grateful and so thankful for all the blessings my family and I have been given.  I did some dry embossing on the background using one of Spellbinders 3D M-Bossibilities Folders.
the hand molded flowers were stamped with memento luxe and heat set, the Bella Stems are edged Versa Mark, dusted with white embossing powder and heat set and layered on a 5×7 corrugated.  I used the Love Knots Panel on the background which was misted with Radiant Rain. I know we all lead very busy lives, and priorities get in the way! Remember that family time is precious, remember to be thankful for all your own lovely blessings.

This months inspiration photo has a relaxing tropical feel to it and inspired me to create with some pretty pinks and flowers.

I created two tag/cards. For my doll tag I have used a piece from the “out of this world frame” and some Stampendous embossing enamel to finish it off. My Charming tag/card has pieces of “flourish 5” tucked in with the flower. That flourish is finished with Stampendous aged embossing enamel, I love the vintage look of them!

This months inspiration photo spoke tropical to me. I pulled out some of the tropical colors and played with some pictures of my cousin. She is on a beach taking photos of the final days of her first pregnancy. I used the CE brick stamp in the BG. I actually used it as a mask. Stay tuned for how I achieved that. Then I embossed small areas around the CE Antique clock with Lindy’s embossing powder. For My flourishes (Flourish set 20) I covered in gesso. Dry embossed then wet embossed them with 2 different colors of Lindy’s embossing powder and lightly inked the edges with a black little inker. I used the Flying Unicorn KOM July for the rest of the items in the LO. Lots of fun playing with Creative Embellishment products!!! Hope to see you playing along with us!

When I saw the inspiration picture for this month challenge I thought “exotic, tropical, adventure”. So, I decided to use this picture – we are taking a bath with elephants in India, an unforgettable experience for me!

I used Creative Embellishments’ Circles stamp and Distressed Moroccan Stamp to create my background. I added extra dimension with gesso and a masking template. When the gesso has dried, I repeated the stars pattern with a blue ink. To finish off my background design, I added the fancy corners using black embossing powder and clear stamps. To embellish my picture I used Creative Embellishments Social Hash Tags chipboard set and View Master Set of 5 chipboard set. I altered the #ME title with black embossing powder and the picture wheel from the View Master Set of 5 with brown embossing powder.

I hope I managed to inspire you! And I can’t wait to see your creations!

I have to agree with Michelle its been a long time since I embossed anything. I was inspired by the Hibicus flowers, the colors and the water in the background of the inspiration picture. I altered the Flourish Frame 2, Flourish Set 22, Summertime title all the same way. I first applied gesso to all the chipboard pieces. I the applied mist with a paint brush  haphazardly on each piece. I did the same when it came to heat embossing the pieces. I didn’t fully cover them except for the title piece. I was trying to achieve a water like effect. For the Hibiscus after applying gesso I applied prima chalk edger in an orange color. I then added some red around the edges and a bit in the center of the petals with a gelato. For the centers I heat embossed with yellow embossing powder.  I altered the dragonfly with red heat embossing powder on top half of the piece and applied red acrylic paint to the bottom half. I stamped some images with the new paint splat trio stamps and our circle bokeh stamp. I also added a little bumble bee to the hibiscus  that I altered using faber castell big pitt pens and a butterfly flair button.
