Happy Monday, friends! Hope your weekend was amazing. Ours was a busy one. Jolie seems to have caught virus after virus this year. It feels like she has been sick for over a month. She just had to share with her momma. 😉 Ehh, I know its not her fault but it’s never a good time to be sick. The girls have a week vacation celebrating “Presidents” week. Instead of having 2 weeks off for spring break they split the vacation times up and spaced them out. I am not exactly sure why they did this but I think it has to do with teachers and students families taking vacations during the first couple months of the year. I suppose it is a popular time of the year for vacations. I always thought that was what summer was for but I think people travel for other holidays as well to see their out of town family. Regardless it gives Jolie a little more time to recover from her cold….well until she goes back and catches another. 🙂
Today I am sharing a layout I created of my fur babies. I have 3,Roscoe (Beagle-6), Otis (Mini Dachshund-6) and Clyde(Yorkie -3). I love my puppies. Roscoe is the most photogenic though. It is the love month so I figured I would make a page of my boys. They truly are part of the family. Best part about owning a dog is the unconditional love.
One of these days I will invest in a good light and set up to take better photos in artificial light. I used all of our products on this layout. Chipboard – chicken wire panel, a frond and heart shapes. Wood Veneers – Conversation hearts, puzzle heart and mini hearts. Rubber Stamps – Conversation hearts, distressed heart and distressed heart (from the trio stamps). For the background I first applied grey Faber castell big pitt pen to the distressed heart background stamp a stamped all over the paper. I altered the chipboard first applying black ink as the base using Faber Castell big pitt pen. I then applied modeling paste to the hearts to add a bit of texture. I then applied a bit of blue and green distress paints to the hearts. I added a bit of gesso over the black innk on the chicken wire panel. For the frond I first completely colored it in with a green Faber Castell big pitt pen. I then applied 2 different green colors of distress paints and lastly added some gesso. The wood conversation hearts I applied distress paints in the colors of white, green and blue. I did the same with the wood puzzle heart but make it two tone. I colored the remaining mini hearts with Faber Castell pens in blue and green. For an added touch I applied black acrylic paint to the small heart trio stamp and applied to the paper. I then added some conversation hearts by stamping a few to the paper after everything was already layered and glued to the layout. I only colored in the heart images I wanted to stamp onto the paper.
A bit of a close up of the textures on the hearts and chicken wire panel.

I was further inspired by a Pagedrafts sketch.
