It’s Monday already? Wow the weekend went by pretty fast. I hope everyone’s was a memory making one filled with lots of pictures. Ours was busy as usual. We filled and sent orders out. I did a little designing.
Today I am sharing a layout I created inspired by my daughter Kayla getting her license in the mail. She actually passed her road test on January 10th. She carried around this little receipt saying she passed. It took a couple weeks to get her actual license in. Kayla is a very ambitious young lady who works really hard for what she wants. She doesn’t give up easily. I actually wish I was more like her. Kayla is a very confident person who doesn’t care what other people think or say. I am the total opposite. I guess I need to take some pointers from her. I love her SMILE.
I figured our tire track stamp would be perfect for this layout. I applied acrylic black paint directly to the stamp and then applied it to the background paper vertically on the right side and horizontally at the top of the layout. I also stamped the distressed grid image using the same medium as I did for the tire track. I added some black soot distress stain to the chicken wire and flourish chipboard pieces. I further embellished the flourish with a little red distress stickles. To continue with the chevron pattern I cut apart chevron border pieces and applied some gesso to them. For an added touch I added a smiley emoticon well because that’s Kay’s nickname. She has the cutest smile and well has received so many compliments ever since she as little. I also added a couple conversation hearts (yes, you rock, so fine) I simply altered with a bit of distress stains.
A close up of the flourish and a chevron piece. I was further inspired by Scrap Around the World and Pagedrafts challenges.
