Maggi Harding – Scrap, Travel & Bark!
Hi friends! I had a great time working with the sketch challenge this month. I did a layout of my favorite subjects and stayed fairly close to the sketch. I framed my photos using Doily Frame Set 1 and colored them with Sizzix Luster Wax. My title, It’s a Dogs Life, is chipboard and colored with black embossing powder. At the bottom of the layout I used the Grunge Corner, one of my favorite pieces! Then just for that perfect touch on a pet page, I added an black bone from the Acrylic Black Bones Set. I also used the Heart Bokeh Stencil and stenciled on some hearts, I don’t think that worked out to well as they kind of fade away but I was afraid red hearts would be “too much”.
The twist this month is to splash on some paint and so I did, just some random black paint spatters here and there. Hope to see your take on this sketch in the challenge entries!
Welcome to the November Challenge here at Creative Embellishments. This month we are featuring a sketch challenge and it was so fun to do! I took a few liberties but kept my focal points the same and used so many great CE products. Papers and ephemera are all 13 Arts Aurora collection. My chippys were all dabbed with white gesso while my background features some 13 Art Color Glow along with splattered white gesso as per the twist. Here is lists of Creative Embellishments products used: Lacy Border, Viney Flourish Frame, Rings For So Many Things, Everyday Word Set, Alphabet Game Pieces, Small Stars Stencil, Circle Bokeh Stamp and Fly Away Flair. Can’t wait to see your creations! ~ Sandi ~

After prepping the background with gesso to take on pastes and sprays. I take the inspiration from the background on the sketch. I added stamping with the Distress Numbers Stamp along with the Numbers Boarder Stamp. Using the Distress patterns stencil, I add a thick layer of black pastes sporadically over the page. I used various chipboards. I added colour with Lindy’s spray. I only had a small variety with me at Maggi’s so I made it work with what I had. I highlighted the chipboard with some waxes. I don’t always cut my photos down to fit the Grunge Frames. I like the different look, it adds an element of uniqueness to the page. I used various Washi clusters on the page in-between the layers. I actually cut them apart to make them go a little further. I just love love love layers. I actually brought a number of flowers with me on the trip to Maggi’s. (I actually forgot to pack them until there was a gentle reminder) But some of my layouts just don’t need them. The twist this month was to add splashes on the page. I used some burnt umber and yellow iron oxide liquid acrylic paints. I diluted it with some water before adding some splashes. I finished the page off with some glass glitter.

Here is a short video of the creative process.
Hi everyone! I love using sketches for my layouts. It is a quick way to put a layout together. On my background, I added modeling paste through the Distressed Circle Stencil. I let it dry and then added watercolor. I added some torn strips of patterned papers and then machine stitched them. I added acrylic paint to the Grunge Circle Frame and a Grunge Mini Frame. I added my photo to the larger one and backed the mini one with patterned paper. I used the We Are Family piece for my title and colored it with mists. I can’t wait to see what you come up with using the sketch!
Hi friends! I always enjoy an inspiring sketch challenge and this month is no exception! My daughter had a lot of fun painting a small pumpkin this month and the photos fit the challenge twist of paint splatter perfectly. In addition to paint splattered patterned paper, I also added a couple of pieces from the Paint Splats and Drips Border Set to the corners of my photos. I applied acrylic paint to a Pumpkin Border and then used one of the Paint Splat Trio Rubber Stamps with embossing ink and white embossing powder to add paint splats to the pumpkins. I embellished the layout with stickers and die-cuts and finished with a die-cut and chipboard title, using a word from the Halloween Hashtags Set.
Butterfly Card by Tracy McLennon
I love the monthly challenges, and I also LOVE sketches. Well this time around I decided to take a slightly different route with the challenge. I really wanted to create a card based on the sketch.
Creative Embellishments Chipboard Used
Butterfly Set
Small Sentiment Words
Film Strip Stamp 1
I stamped the film strip images onto the my blended background to create the borders. Then I covered the butterflies using an embossing pad and black embossing powder. I covered the Best Wishes sentiment using an embossing pad and white embossing powder.
I also splattered white paint onto the background using white acrylic paint. If you’d like to see all the nitty gritty details on how I created my card, pop on over to my blog HERE.
I love layering the awesome chipboard from CE!!!
I inked, painted and layered Grunge Circles, Brick pieces, Grunge Circle Frames, Acrylic Gears, Distressed Checker Pieces, Bicycle chain borders, and gears.
Hello friends! Here we are at the November challenge…this year just flew by! I created a card set for this challenge featuring Creative Embellishments Pine Needle Frame and Christmas Candles. To alter the chipboard I simply inked them with chalk ink and rubbed with Gold Pebeo wax rub. For the twist I splattered the background paper with Heidi Swapp gold spray to finish off this card set I added flowers, gold pine cones and ribbon from my stash.
Hi everyone and welcome to the November Challenge. I chose to create an oversized tag and drew from the circles on the sketch. I was inspired by the colors of the leaves on the trees and those that have fallen to the ground. It amazes me how quickly the leaves have changed this past week. I used several Fall related chipboard pieces on my tag, all treated with various colors of paint, including Family ATC Coin, Leafy Vine Frame, Flourish Set 15, Mini Leaves Set 1, Mini Leaves Set 2, Autumn Leaves, Rose Leaves and the Distressed Text Stamp. I hope you’ll join us this month!
