Hey everyone! Welcome to the August challenge!I was inspired by the colors, mermaids and fish in the mood board this month.  I added wonky scallops cut from my Cameo to create waves on my background. I added Lindy’s mists to the Tropical Fish and Mermaids. I also added some sequins to 2 of the mermaids. I finished my page off with lots of spatters, stickers and some of the new Mirror Acrylic Blue Star Pieces. I am having so much fun with these! I am looking forward to seeing your creations this month!

Welcome to August, everyone! While I dearly love an Avant Garde photography “human” image, I don’t typically scrap mythical creatures. But I was inspired nonetheless by the “Mermaid Silhouette” which is so popular in wedding gowns. In fact my youngest daughter chose a mermaid silhouette for the gown she wore at her beach wedding. For the “Scallop Twist,” I used the Wavy Film Strips. Other products used were: Intricate Heart Border, Seaweed 2, Large Seashells 2, Nautical Compass,  Down By The Sea and the Sail Away Flair. I had lots of fun with this one once I decided on the direction I wanted to go. Details and close-ups are on my blog. (Link above) I can’t wait to see all your Challenge entries!

Hello friends!  Wow August already.  So the August challenge is so inspiring to me…my zodiac sign is a water sign and I’m drawn to the ocean and everything mystical.  I’m a true Pisces and one of my traits is being a dreamer.  I love everything mystical and magical!  Today my project is a card and the twist is using scallops.  I used the Doily Frame Set 2 and the word Mystical from the Magical Set.  I simply used Embossing powder to alter the chipboard.  Details are on my blog.  Hope you all play along with this fun challenge!  Can’t wait to see what you create!

Welcome to the August Challenge!  Hard to believe that it’s August already.  I love the mood board, full of bright and bold colors.  I had a lot of fun creating this under water project using lots of chipboard from the store.  I used the following pieces, Round Ship Window Frame, Mermaid Artist Trading Card/Coins,  Coral,  Seaweed 2, and Seaweed 3.  All of the chipboard was treated with various colors of Prima Metallique Paints and Waxes.  I added some purple moss, glass glitter and pearls.  Hope you’ll join us this month.  Looking forward to seeing what you create!

Hello chipboard friends!
My layout was inspired by everything mermaid. Here are the details on what I did with my chipboard pieces.

Creative Embellishments Chipboard Used:

Nautical Set       Distressed Chicken Wire        Fantasy Word Set

Seaweed 2                   Coral                  Seaweed 3

Let’s start with the easiest, and that is the Chicken Wire Border. I thought it looked like great netting, and I did nothing to the chipboard keeping it natural. Next I took the ships wheel and misted it with a dark brown mister, then once dry I added some sections of clear embossing powder. Cover the “Mystical” title word using Midnight Magic (dark blue) embossing powder. The Seaweed 2 piece is covered in a mixture of yellow and red embossing powder. Seaweed 3 is covered in a purple embossing powder. Finally, cover the coral chipboard piece using the same red embossing powder.

Another month at creative embellishments and we have another great challenge and inspirational photo. The twist this month is using scallops. If any of you are like me and still trying to find the balance of creating and the kids being home going on 5 months now, I have found that it is easier for me to paint a little here and there verses getting involved in a full big project.

Creative Embellishments July challenge

I love the photo this month and decided to sit and paint and make some cute underwater ATC’s. I love the colours and i took different elements from the photo to create these. I gather the Octopus set, knowing I couldn’t fit the whole set on the page, I wanted to make the impression of wrapping around the card. And what else goes with underwater except jelly fish and seahorses. Using liquid acrylics I sat and blending and brushed each of the pieces. I also think I cooked dinner in between there as well. lol. I painted the mermaid pair and incorporated the scallops on her tail in the challenge.

Here is a short video of the background texture, and a little painting, topped off with some interference to add a shimmer. Enjoy the creative process.

Today I’d like to inspire you with some upcycled underwater magical mermaid coasters. At Creative Embellishments this month we are inspired by this beautiful underwater scene and mermaids. Our twist is to use some scalloped designs in our compositions. It’s hard not to see that I am very much inspired by the entire scene. All the elements in this photo right down to the color combinations. Since I used some steampunk mermaids, I decided they needed wings too. To make that happen, yet, stay within the underwater theme I used some seashells. For the twist, I decided to use the Mermaid Artist Trading Coin and added some scalloped stenciling to the background of each coaster. To create these beauties, I altered the Seaweed 2 and Seaweed 3 pieces using acrylic paint. The Steampunk Mermaid 2 I altered using embossing powder. And, yes, there’s more! To embellish them even further I used some Under the Sea flair coins. I hope you are as inspired as we are this month by the theme! We look forward to seeing what you all come up with.
Jennifer Snyder here sharing my take on the August Challenge at Creative Embellishments.  Yes August already but while the summer is flying by, the start of a new month brings the start of a new challenge at Creative Embellishments.
I created a wall hanging/door hanging leading the way to the peaceful respite of sun, sand and surf. My chipboard pieces are: Creative Embellishments – Beach Word Set 1Creative Embellishments – Starfish And Sand DollarsCreative Embellishments – Lighthouse Set Of 4.
The special twist this month is to add a scalloped pattern.  My scalloping was created using a stencil and molding paste.
