Hi friends! Dana Tatar here today sharing a Winter scrapbook layout. I used the Woodland Christmas paper collection from Aga Baraniak and Canvas Corp Brands and I couldn’t be happier with the way it came together. I’ve been cataloging old family photos. When I came across this peaceful picture of my family lake house taken in the Winter, I knew it was the perfect shot for this project. I have never visited this house during the Winter months. All my memories include warm Summer days, hot sand, and cool water. Now that my daughters are in a school district that celebrates a mid-Winter break, I can finally make the trip. I’m looking forward to a week of peaceful solitude!
Even though this photo is black and white, I know there is plenty of green and brown in the landscape. I used Distress Markers to add color to a Chipboard Doily. I selected similar colors to those present on the patterned papers. Once colored, I applied white acrylic paint with a sponge for a frosty finish. I attached the doily to the top center of the page and then placed my photo on top. I love the subtle dimension created with this chipboard photo mat.
I sprinkled Chipboard Snowflakes and Wood Veneer Stars around the page. I used a sponge to apply white acrylic paint to the chipboard snowflakes. I splattered the wood veneer stars, and the surrounding background paper, with white chalkboard mist. I also added drops of Green Ivy Glimmer Mist to the background of the page for a pop of color.
I glued a Snow Chipboard Word, from the Blizzard Word Set, onto the bottom left corner of the photo. I wanted a high contrast title that would stand out so I simply colored the chipboard with a black Distress Marker and then lightly sponged on white acrylic paint for an icy finish. I absolutely love this font. Snow is just one of 5 words in the set. Also included in the package is Blizzard, Storm, Windy, and Chilly.
I finished this layout with some handwritten journaling. I’m looking forward to taking my own Winter photos at the lake in a couple of weeks. If you have some snowy photos you’d like to share, we’d love to have you the January Challenge. The twist is to add snow to your project.
