Happy June everyone!! I know I say this often but time is flying by so fast… I hope the start to summer is a good one for !
It’s a new month so it’s time for a new challenge. Please be inspired by 1 element from the picture below and the twist is to use a nautical piece on your project.
Hello this is Marci- Happy JUNE! Today I am sharing Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) I did for the challenge themed inspiration (photo above) along with the twist of “Nautical”. The water looks almost real as I used sporadic GLOSSY ACCENTS. On the bottom of the cards, I used layers of torn paper towels along with Inka Gold-Cobalt Blue. From CREATIVE EMBELLISHMENTS, I used: Captain’s Wheel: covered w/gray texture paste, then sprayed w/color shine-bronzer. Distressed Script Stamp: used across the top of each card. Hope you can join us!
hi… Bev here today with my interpretation of the challenge themed inspiration (photo above) along with the twist of “Nautical”. With this in mind I created a family vacation page at the beach and jetty in Florida. We did lots of swimming and some fishing and these photos make for great memories of our time together and the Nautical chipboards are a perfect accent on this page. I inked them with about 3 colours but kept them really natural and rustic.
I’ve been looking forward to playing with this beautiful Steampunk Mermaid for a few weeks now, Isn’t she beautiful? I hope you saw my video a few weeks ago when I played with the Finnabair waxes. I used the same technique here of coating my chipboard with black gesso, then adding the waxes here and there. I also included pieces from this new set Large Gear Set Black. What’s fun with this set is you don’t need to add the black gesso. I love this set. And last piece used is one of the french words from this beautiful set Ahoy Matey French set. I can’t wait to see what this challenge will inspire you to create. Have fun crafting !
Hi all, Welcome to the June Challenge, I would say one of my favorite inspirational sketches. Love, Love Love it. I played with the large tags Nicole has in the store. I did little bit of mixed media and made a video if you want to watch the process here. I started out painting a patina effect on the thorn flourish and the large gears set. I altered the tags using the distressed crackle stamp, along with the fishnet stamp along with some sprays and textures. I simply painted the steampunk mermaid 1 and mermaid 2 chipboard with some acrylic paints and put it all together. Adding some bling, shells and some fishnet and “Under the Sea” is where we will be. I hope you all play along this month.
Hello, Nadine here and I absolutely loved this month’s inspiration photo! One of my favorite types of layouts to create are beachy ones. I used one of the Nautical Lighthouse chipboards for the nautical twist. I sponged on some white gesso to create a rough texture and the sprayed it lightly with some blue and light brown mists. I added a bunch of Seashell chippies and then whitewashed them with some watered down gesso. For the title, I used “Seabreeze” from the Beach Word 2 Set and whitewashed it and sprayed a light blue mist over the whitewash. Lots of fun inspiration for this months challenge, I hope you join us in the challenge!
Glad you are joining us for our June challenge 🙂 I decided to create a fun layout using a photo of my boys when they were small taking a bath and my favorite Bo Bunny papers. I used lots of fun Nautical themed chippies, which I colored with Distress inks in various colors, just rubbed the ink onto the chippies which I prepped first with white gesso. I wanted to create a funny title to my page and so used the Beach word set and the basic alphabet set. I also used the sea shells, the lighthouse, the wave border and the fishnet background to go with my theme.
I was inspired by the June Challenge photo to create this Beachy Mixed Media Canvas! I’ve used the Creative Embellishments Fishnet Stencil with modeling paste to create texture on the canvas and have used the CE Fishnet Panel 2, Seashells, Nautical Anchor, and Fancy Oblong Frame to embellish the project. I filmed this project as I created it – so pop by my blog for more photos and see the video here!
Ahhh June! Summer is my favorite season!
I was inspired by the colors, fish and anchor in the photo. For my background, I added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink through the Crackled Brick Stencil. Then I stamped with black ink using the Distressed Text Stamp. To both sides of my photo, I added Seaweed 2. I used colored texture paste and a paintbrush to coat the chippies. Then I added some mist spatters. I colored the 3 green Tropical Fish this way as well. The Tropical Fish to the left of the photo, I painted with a coat of Gesso and then added the same mist spatters. Finally to the left of the photo, I added a Nautical Anchor. I added brown and silver embossing powders and used my heat gun on it. I finished it off with the same mist spatters. I added a Nautical Compass to the upper right corner and trimmed off some. That piece I added to the lower left corner. The Nautical Compass was colored with a variety of items- embossing powders, inks and mists. I finished off my layout by adding a flair from the Nautical Set 1.
Hi everyone and Happy June! …The weather here is starting to heat up and this months inspiration photo was perfect for a beach themed tag! The NEW Large Tags are sooo big and so much fun to play with! I also added a Nautical Compass, a Vintage Flourish, some Distressed Text stamping and a cute little Shine Flair to finish it all off. Have fun playing along and cant wait to see what you make!!!!!!!!
The colors and image in this month’s challenge sent me straight to my stash to find my favorite sea collection from Graphic 45, Voyage Beneath the Sea. I used Prima rust paste on the Steampunk Frame at the top, the Gear Corner Set at the bottom, Gear Set 2 Medium, and even the Steampunk Octopus to give them that underwater weathered look! I painted Seaweed, Seaweed 2, Seaweed 3 with Silks to place on the ocean floor. There are so many fun Steampunk chippies in the store that would work so well with this month’s challenge! I hope you’ll join in the fun, can’t wait to see what you do!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! We all would love to see what you create!
Please link your project below for a chance to win a $50.00 gift voucher to our store.
I had hoped to enter this, since “You have until the last day of each month 11:55 pm eastern time to enter,” but by 11:15 pm eastern time it was already closed! Not a big deal to me, just thought you’d want to know! I still had fun, and exercised my mind some in the process!! Hopefully I’ll get to participate in July!
This was a fun challenge.
Absolutely gorgeous mixed media art ladies! Wow, you’ve surprised me this month, love every one of these.
Thank you for the awesome challenge, I had fun and learnt a couple of tricks too Karen x
Do you have to have a blog to submit a project?
Thanks,
Kitty
Such a wonderful inspiration, all the projects are fabulous and also my favourite theme, many thanks :-)!
Fab creations! very inspiring.
How fun!! Love the pieces.
Hi Monica! Thanks-hope you can join us!
Gorgeous creations! Living in Minnesota (about as far as the coast as you can get in either direction) I don’t use much nautical stuff, but I may have to find something fun in the shop 😉
Thanks Carrie!
What a fabulous challenge! Can’t wait to play!
Sandi-your work is beautiful–looking forward to seeing your project!
