Challenge Rules:
New month, new challenge at Creative Embellishments, yay!! It’s October and of course the challenge is all about pumpkins, fall colors and Halloween. I am totally inspired by the fun Halloween look of the photo, so I created two Halloween tags. For the first tag, I created a fun background by misting my tags with lots of spooky colors, black, green, purple and some gold to highlight the background. Then, I used my very favorite Halloween skeleton chipboard piece and that ‘s Mr. Bones, as I affectionately call him! I also use a way cool giant spider from the Bugs set that I heat embossed with aged black embossing enamel. I painted the wood veneer pumpkins with Silks. Then to finish it off, instead of my usual bow at the top of the tag, I decided to use a cool metal flair button from Creative Embellishments’ Boo Flair Set and that also meets the metal twist this month!
On the 2nd tag, I used the spooky Scarecrow Set. I love those crows that I painted black. I also painted the body of the scarecrow, but used design paper for the scarecrow’s clothing. Watch out for black painted cat hiding in the flowers! ☺ For the metal twist, I used a Graphic 45 Staples Metal Clock Key. I topped off the tag with a Really Reasonable Ribbon bow in Halloween colors.
Can’t wait to see what you come up with for the challenge. Lots of directions you can go in, have fun!
Hi everyone! I just love the inspiration photo for this months challenge…its so much fun, and Creative Embellishments has a huge variety of chippys for your Halloween projects! I have used one of the cute Halloween Cats and added lots of black glitter to him. The title on my tag is from the NEW Holiday Sentiments Word Set, and I can tell I am going to use this set lots! I hope you all play along with us this month!
What an awesome challenge for this month! I just love the colors and the Fall feel… and of course I was happy that I had the perfect chipboard – the pumpkins, of course! I also decided to add my own twist on the twist… make it a double-twist, if you will 😉 I used super thick WOW! embossing powder in bronze on the pumpkins to add that metallic twist to the page. The “Cute” word was also embossed with the bronze. For the crows, I used black glitter embossing powder from WOW! The film strip I simply colored with a black sharpie – works great on chipboard, and super quick and easy too!
Hi everyone, I don’t love Halloween’s theme but colors are the same that the theme of the autumn. I was inspired by orange and red colors. I used Acorn clusters chippies in the rough to call back the nature.
To work my background, I used Distressed Crackle stamp and Distress text stamp with jet black Archival ink and red Stazon. I look forward to your interpretation ! Have fun 🙂
I was mainly inspired by the color scheme. And of course, I added a metallic accent as this month twist…. the beautiful heart over my picture. Most of the chipboard sare left raw. I’ve applied a coat of bronze embossing powder over my title and little gears. I’ve used Distressed Crackle Stamp, Fun Hearts, Heart Strings Border, Boy Word Set and Mini Gears.
Have fun with our new challenge!
I’m not into Halloween, so I went another route with the inspirational photo. I was inspired by the fall colors.
The photos is an older one of DH and I on a Fall photo shoot that I did. Yes, I purposely dressed us like that..lol. I wouldn’t be a true scrapper if I didn’t color coordinate our clothes to match papers I had.
So, I dug deep into my stash for the papers and flowers. For my chippies, I used the new circle-doodle-frames that I heat embossed with 2 different colors of embossing powder. In my flower cluster I have the ivy-sprigs that were also heat embossed with a metallic green embossing powder. Buried on the left side of my photo is a lamp-posts that was also heat embossed. I used some aged enamel embossing powder on it.
For the twist I added some metal leave to the flower cluster on the right. Along with a metal resin birdie.
I just love Halloween – so this was a really fun challenge for me! I’ve used two of the awesome 3×4 Wood Veneer Cards (Happy Halloween and Spider Web) as the covers for my album and the tiny skull from the new Everyday Icons chipboard pack as a cover embellishment. For the cards, I created a wash of acrylic paint, pearlizing medium and water to stain the cards. I used Black Soot Distress Ink on the edges of the cards and some black ink on the front cover to highlight the drips and a black aquarelle pencil on the back cover to go over the spider web lines. I also added some glossy accents to the drips on the front cover and to the spiders on the back cover. For the tiny skull, I painted it with acrylic paint in Antique White and then inked it with Black Soot Distress Ink. For the metal element ‘twist’, I’ve added some metal brads to the hinge stickers and a metal ‘oct. 31’ typed token by Tim Holtz. Hope you have a spooktacular October!
WE would love to see how you are inspired by our challenge.
One lucky randomly drawn winner will be chosen to win a $50.00 gift voucher to the store.
