Happy Thursday! Nicolle here sharing a Halloween Steam punk canvas. Loving skulls and skeleton as I do, I decided to go ahead and dress up a skeleton with steam punk accents. She’s a girly skeleton with a corset and some wings. Even added a hat and of course lots of gears.
I really had so much fun creating this canvas. It came together quickly too. I love when that happens. I took the skeleton bones and added heavy gesso to add a little texture to the bones. I then added some antique white tim holtz distress paint in areas and swiped a black in pad across each piece not fully covering but just to highlight certain areas for a decayed or aged look. It was the first time I actually altered the set 4 steam punk wings. I started with white gesso so that the other colors would stay true to color. Our chip is porous and absorbs many mediums unless primed. I primed with a few different metallic color lumiere paints. I always try to end with a swipe of a black ink pad for added interest. The corset was altered with lumiere paint as well. The gears were altered with black soot distress paint as well as metallic lumiere paints. I added a ton of metal accents to the piece as well but as I look I probably could have added more. I guess some ideas come to me a little after the fact..;)
I added some webster’s trim to the corset.
Thank so much for stopping by the blog today. I hope you were inspired by my project. I sure had a ton of fun creating it.
