Hi all! Tara here today sharing an altered burlap canvas, yet very simple in style has a lot of sentimental meaning. My husbands and I will be celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary soon and I want to make a piece of art each year so we’re able to have memories to look back on.
I started with a gray burlap canvas, spraying it first with white ink spray to mute the color a bit. Then dabbing it with white gesso to white wash it further. Using a script stencil and modeling paste I added a raised texture to the entire piece. Next using permanent black ink and the Distressed Brick Stamp creating more interest to the background. Then I lightly sprayed the entire canvas with a blush colored sprayed to give it a vintage pink tint. ( the colors of our wedding)
The focal point of this piece is the Out of This World Frame. I coated the entire chipboard frame with white gesso. Then sprayed it with the same blush spray from Heidi Swapp. Starting my flower cluster by layering fabric gauze behind to build dimension, then arranging different paper and fabric flowers from Prima and Wild Orchid Crafts.
I also added a resin angel and heart and number 14 metal tag. I sprinkled over the cluster with my spray. A very simple canvas that can be used as wall art! I hope you all enjoy this project.
