Hi all, Tara here sharing with you today a mixed media MDF door. I picked this door up awhile back at Michael’s in the wood section. Using a big sponge dabber, I first coated the entire door with white gesso. Next, I took a small denim canvas, that I also purchased at Michael’s, lightly dabbed it with gesso and adhered it to the middle of the door.
Using a variety of different Glimmer Mist sprays, in brown tones, I sprayed over parts of the door, giving it some color and an aged look. I then used permanent black ink and a Prima honeycomb stamp to add some texture. Placing one of the chipboard frames from the Square Mini Frames set on to the denim canvas, coating it with gesso and spraying it with the same brown sprays and honeycomb stamp.
Doing the same process as above, I also used a chipboard Door Knocker. Then I layered on all of my embellishments including some paper and denim flowers, a Prima metal pipe frame, metal pipes with water drops, small metal gears by TH, mesh gauze and a street sign for my title “This Way”.
Once I had everything in place, I used a paint brush with watered down white gesso to white wash the entire piece. I also used some navy and light blue ink sprays, by Glimmer Mist, to create a lot of splatters. I hope you all enjoy this mixed media door as much as I do!
