Happy August CE friends! Okay where did July go?? It just flew on by over here at CE. I hope everyone’s summer and vacations have been memorable ones.
This month challenge is to be inspired by one element from the photo below and the twist is to fussy cut. If you do not know what fussy cutting is search it on youtube for many fun tutorials.
Challenge Rules:

Hi everyone! This month image inspired me a lot. First by the colors, the gorgeous hues of purples and greens got me. I’m not a fairy girl (with 3 boys home it’s not a thing I use often!) but I found some butterflies wings that matched perfectly. I used a Square mini frame piece to frame my picture. I embossed it once with white powder and a second time with an holographic one from Ranger. It’s not easy to take in picture but it gives to my frame a nice brilliance. Did I said that I’m in love with the wood veneer from the shop? Oh my, I would put some on every single layouts! This time I used the stars that I’ve coloured with turquoise Twinkling H2Os paint.
I love this month’s inspiration photo and decided to create a tag and easel card set featuring fairies and mushrooms, just like the photo! Graphic 45’s Once Upon a Springtime Deluxe Collector’s Edition was perfect for my fairy scene that I created using a fairies from our Fairies set. I used microbeads for their hair and glitter and stickles for their bodies. I painted the mushrooms from our Mushroom Set 1 with ivory paint and just a touch of brown. The title Believe is from our Inspire Word Set and I’ve used Stampendous Aged Ivory embossing enamel to finish it.
I put together a tutorial for you to make the easel card, here’s a link:
Loving the new challenge this month. Please jump in and be inspired to create with us. For my page I took inspiration from the colors and the fairies. I’ve used the Moroccan Lattice Panel and the Flourish 5 piece set , and the Bamboo on here.
Hi everyone! Such a fun inspiration photo for this months challenge…to me it is just so enchanting and looks like a fairy tale. I did a card and tag for this challenge with the twist being I fussy cut out the butterflies. The Distressed Text stamp and Mini Frames are perfect on my card and tag set! I hope you all come play along this month with us!
Hi scrap friends ! I love the colors of the inspiration picture !! The element which inspired me is the wings of the butterflies. I used Fairy Wing set 1 that I painted with acrylic gloss paint. For the twist, I cropped flowers that I stuck on the left of my photo. To add texture on my layout, I stamped the Grunge Stars Stamp with black ink and to add volume, I’ve cut the Flourish 11 in 2 parts to put above and below my photo. I hope you are all inspired to join in this really fun challenge!!!
For my canvas, I was inspired by the mushrooms, fairies and colors from the inspo image. For the twist, I fussy cut butterflies and dragonflies from some older Webster’s Pages journaling cards that I had in my stash. 😀 I started my piece by dabbing the blank canvas with jacquard paints in 2 different shades of purple. You can’t see it well because one is iridescent. Next, I painted my 6″ Large Steampunk Clock piece black and adhered it to the canvas slightly off center. I painted the Mushroom Set 1, Mushroom Set 2 and Mushroom Set 3 with white acrylic paint, then added the details using Pitt Markers. I blended white paint, modeling paste and coarse pumice to create the textured spots on the caps. The Wood Veneer Mushrooms were altered just using markers and the textured blend for the spots. I then altered the Fairies by painting the wings black and the bodies white. Again, I used Pitt markers to decorate the bodies and jacquard paints to give the wings some iridescent sheen. I used two of the title pieces from the Dream Word Set and one from the Inspire Word Set and altered them with white paint and marker. I then added my fussy cut butterflies and dragonflies. 😀 I had a lot of fun with this challenge and I hope you will too! There’s just so much to draw from the inspo image this month and fussy cutting is one of my favorite techniques! 😀
Hi Friends! This is my take on the August Inspiration Photo. I started with a 6×6 burlap canvas, I used the back of the canvas to create a shadowbox effect. Using the Grass Set in the background to build scenery. The Fairy Set as my focal point and also the Fairy Door Set 2 for some added interest. The inspiration photo this month was very colorful, whimsical and magical. I wanted to create a small fairy tale scene with this canvas. Using tons of flowers, vines, leaves, and things from nature. For the added twist, I fussy cut several flowers. Hope you all play along, I’m excited to see what you create!
