Hi everyone! Here’s my take on the July challenge with the Sketchabilities sketch! I started my mind with this nature image and I used the color combo green, blue, red and gray. I supposed the red flowers were poppies so I used some on my agencement too! I’ve cut the chicken wire border in many pieces to add around. I’ve paint it with white gesso first and I’ve coloured it with Brushos powders and water. This is a new product that I bought and it’s fantastic! For the twist I used the hot hexagon wood veneers from the store and left them natural.

What a great sketch!  I followed the Sketchibilities sketch fairly closely and just tailored it to work with my photo. My inspiration from the photo was the vintage dark appearance and the fence.  For the twist I used wood for the fence and two  small Creative Embellishment laser cut wood school buses that I left their natural color.  These come is a set of 3 and they are just so cute!  I also used a larger chipboard school bus from the set of two.  First I inked it and then covered with crackle accents to give it a really vintage appearance.

Hi everyone! Wow this month was special….a Sketchabilities sketch to play along with the inspiration photo. I have always adored their sketches! For my layout I thought the photo looked rather old so I went with a heritage layout. For the twist I added in some wood buttons. I used a couple of flourish chippys, a Mini Square Frame chippy and I adore the Word sets for title pieces!  I hope you all come play along this month with us!

Hi scrap friends ! Love, love, love this sketch of Sketchabilities !! My inspiration from the picture was the blue and red colors, and the flowers. For the twist I used Creative Embellishment Fall Leaves wood that I left their natural color. To add texture to my layout, I’ve cut the Chicken Wire Panel in many pieces. I stamped the Distressed Crackle Stamp with black ink on the butterflies to add some contrast.  I hope you are all inspired to join in this really fun challenge!!!

Picture or Video 6981 591x600Hi again!  Loved this month’s inspiration and sketch.  I was inspired by the blue sky  and all the flowers and it went so well with this photo of my grandaughter, who is just graduating from High School.  Loved the sketch! I’ve used the flourish 10 chippies which I cut in two.  Then I also used the Stars in my Universe Frame.  Then I also added the Lamp Post Set.  For the twist of adding wood I added a heart. I treated the chipboard with paint and then added some glitter to the gold stars.

Hi Guys, this is my take on the July Challenge. Creating my first ever layout, I was a little nervous , but always wanting to try new things  I jumped right in and  am pretty happy with the results! First using the Sketchabilities Sketch 142 as my starting point. I grabbed some papers in my stash from the Wallflower Collection by Tim Holtz. I gave the background a quick and messy whitewash with gesso, using an old credit card. Then layered up strips of paper to create a background for my Windmill photo, that I found on Pinterest. I also used a few different washi tapes, film strips, Distressed Chicken Wire Border, mesh gauze, a black wooden button (for the twist), metal propeller, burlap tag, and the word Explore from the Adventure Word Set.  After adhering everything down, I sprinkled some sprays, Black Magic, White Blanco, Sterling Silver, and Bubblegum Pink. I hope you all enjoy this layout and please play along in the July Challenge found right here on the CE Blog, to win a $50 gift voucher! Happy Crafting!

I was inspired by the photo and colors, as it is a wonderful reminder of one of my favorite places – Solvang, California. The picture is of one of the best bakeries ever! I saw the photo and knew I had to use the amazing Windmill. I used several inks and paints over white gesso and covered it with Crackle Accents. Additionally, I used the Adventure Word Set which I gave a coat of matte black gesso and the Flourish 32, which I snipped apart, painted with Silks paints and also covered with the clear crackle medium. I can’t wait to see what everyone creates for this super fun challenge!

This was such a fun challenge! I love Karan’s sketches over at sketchabilities and am always inspired by them. 😀 I was further inspired by the colors, fence, and flowers from our inspo image. The blades of the windmill also reminded me of mesh, so I used drywall tape that I painted in the background of my design. CE stamps are so much fun to work with, so I used several of them to create my background which had started out as smooth white paper. I used watered down Distress stains for the base and Distress ink and Stazon ink with CE stamps to create my own background for this page. The chippies (flourish and fence) and drywall tape were altered using acrylic paint (both liquitex and Lumiere). For the twist, I left my CE wood veneer pieces bare so you can really see the intricate detailing on them, which they’re known for. 😀 I am so excited about this month’s challenge and can’t wait to see all the entries!

I enjoy Karan’s sketches over at Sketchabilities. They are super inspiring. I started with stamping our distressed script stamp with black ink and our twinkle stamp with red ink. I altered our pussy willow  starting with texturez muddy buddy. I then applied weathered wood and white gesso to the blooms. They are fussy so tried to achieve that look. I added a little faber castle dark brown big pitt pen here and there on the branches as well.  The windmill was altered with a coat of gesso. I then added distressed brick paint and a red gelato for a distressed look. I used a black pen to highlight the engraved parts of the windmill. The blades were done with frayed burlap paint, black ink and white gesso. The wood veneer stars were left in the raw.

 july challenge tag

I was inspired by the red flowers so I decided to make red and flowers a large part of my tag.  I fussy cut a ton of flowers from G45 French Country and layered.  I just love the hot air balloon chippies and tried my hand at paper piecing over the top to give a different look.  I finished it off by heavily inking between the etched lines and sealing over the top with glossy accents.  For the wooden element, I used part of a leaf at the top of the tag inked green to give a pop of a color to tie with the leaves from the flowers.

I used the CE Pussy Willow chippy cut it apart and colored it green with a little inker, Then went over it again using some shimmerz in Green Olive. Tipped the edges with a white little inker.
