Hi Everyone! Tara here, I am super excited to share this project with you! I absolutely love summer time and the beach so this altered frame is just my style! This is a quick photo of the frame before I altered it. Yes, its definitely drab but I saw major potential. I picked this frame up at a local garage sale for fifty cents (Yay! Go me!)
NOW! Here is the After!
First, I prepped the entire frame with a few heavy coats of gesso, using a sponge dabber instead of a regular paint brush to add some extra texture. Then I went over the entire piece with modeling paste, spreading a very thick messy layer to add super dimension!
While the paste was still wet I added in some of my embellishments, seashells, fish netting, clear and blue gems, Wooden Boat Wheel, resin seahorse, burlap strips, cheesecloth, a metal anchor, chipboard Grass Set, star fish and a glass vial.
I went over all my embellishments with a light coat of gesso. Then sprayed over them with some glimmer mists, in crushed seashells, woven burlap, stone, sand and sunshine. Lastly, I added my title, “Freedom” from the Journey Word Set. I went over the chipboard word with my sunshine and sand Glimmer Mists.
I hope you all enjoy this beachy themed altered frame! Maybe you can gain some inspiration for all your summer projects! Thank you so much for stopping by!
