Happy hump day friends!! Nicolle here today sharing a canvas I created. I am always listening to music. I turn on my sonos to pandora every morning to one of my favorite stations….Breaking Benjamin. I like many genre’s from the 40’s right on through to today. I have to admit my tastes have changed a bit since being a teen. I like a lot of dance , pop, rock, heavy metal, alternative and rap. Today I mostly listen to rock, alternative and metal ..also some of what my kids would call screamo. lol. I also turn to some oldies fleetwood mac, CCR, bryan adams, John Mellencamp, chicago, journey…..madonna, prince etc…. Oh my the list goes on. The only music I do not listen to is country or any of today’s rap. I figured I would create a canvas in tribute for my love of music.
I started with a 9″x 12″ canvas. I actually wet a pattered piece of paper and crumpled it but as you can see there isn’t much left of the paper visible. I had what I thought was a cool idea but I wasn’t able to execute it really well. I am not completely disappointed how it turned out but it is not what was in my mind’s eye. I cut myself a custom treble clef chipboard piece and applied some 3d stamp paint . I then applied some sugar plum distress paint and black magic mesh. The small wing set 4 I altered simply applying distress paints in the colors of weathered wood, white picket fence and black soot. The i love music title piece was altered with black soot paint and pink micro beads applied with glossy accents. For a finishing touch to the treble clef I added one of our music flair pieces.
The wood veneer music notes and music note border 2 were both altered using black soot and weathered wood distress paints. The butterfly was altered using sugar plum and picked rasberry distress paints. I added a couple black gems to keep to the color scheme.
I also stamped a couple images to the background with our grunge music note sheet stamp (with picked raspberry) and distressed checker stamp (with black soot).
The flourishes were altered the same as the music note borders with black soot and weathered wood paints. I hope you all liked my canvas. Creating them is a bit out of my comfort zone. I am hoping to do a few more this year and get better at them and maybe achieve what I see in my minds eye.
