I interpreted the inspiration image by the blue tones, the lighthouse and trees. and came up with this.
I created a 5×7 base card ( corrugated is actually a bit larger, more like 7.5 x 5.5). The paper is from Heartfelt Creations Balmy Breeze collection as is the stamped image. I stamped it on water colour paper and used the Ranger Distress Markers to colour it. The light house and anchor are from the Nautical 6 piece set.
Designer Details: Both pieces were primed with gesso. The lighthouse i used a brick template and added texture paste, heat set to dry. then played with one of the four step paint systems from Tattered Angels. i did the same to the anchor, just adding some texture paste and i love how both of these chipboard pieces turned out.
As soon as I saw the photo inspiration this month I knew I wanted to do a LO with this photo of my daughter’s silhouette on the beach. I used both the nautical anchor and nautical captain’s wheel which I colored with a black sharpie. I also added a small heart. I love that the challenge was to use a nautical theme, so looking forward to summer!!!
I have been scrapping my cousin and new husband, who is in Japan away from family and friends. I snagged this photo of them at the beach (expecting their first child), it went perfectly with our nautical theme this month, along with the gorgeous Flying Unicorn June’s KOM. Everything melted together beautifully! The Creative Embellishment chippies are the lighthouse, anchor and compass they all come together in a set called Nautical 6 piece set. For the treatment on mine, I just gessoed, then dabbed a little bit of Shimmerz, then dabbed with a paper towel and edged with a Prima Chalk inker in black coal. I also added highlights with a white paint marker and for the rope on the anchor used a little bit of distress paint in walnut. Hope you all will play along with us this month!!
I really enjoyed this month’s challenge! I love summer and I love filling in my albums with pictures from our summer holidays!
For this page I used a lot of different products from Creative Embellishments – for my background I used the Distressed Chicken Wire Stamp with brown ink. Then I added a half frame embellishment above my picture, using the 6×6″ Lattice Panel Circles. I added the nautical chippies using the Nautical Compass and the Nautical Anchor sets, which I altered with brown embossing powder. The #SUN word comes from the Social Hash Tags chipboard set.
My daughter went to the Erin Basin Marina last weekend with her boyfriend and I was so happy to have a new picture to work with for this challenge. It worked out perfectly. The marina is about 10 minutes from us and we go often. It’s a nice place to go on a hot summer day. You can watch the boats, chill on the beach or walk and see the pretty flowers planted. They also have food along the harbor. It’s really a lot of fun. People take their lawn chairs and blankets and just sit and read. Just a nice place to be.
For the challenge I used some nautical wood, chipboard and flair on my layout. I cut apart the wave panel and wave border were simply altered with gesso and viva inka gold metallic blue rub. I altered Flourish 1 with two different color greens, one being tim holtz distress paint and a prima chalk edger. You can’t tell the variation in color to much though. I altered the rope frame first applying Tim Holtz antique linen distress paint and then swiped with burlap color distress paint. I altered the wood nautical stars with distress stain in faded jeans. The wood compass with distress stain in pewter and I left the sun all natural. The wood anchor was altered with maya gold in grey and I added a piece of jute to it. The sailboat was altered with gesso, maya gold in grey and blue metallic rub. The chipboard lighthouse was altered with white arylic paint, metallic blue rub and maya gold in grey. The social hash tag was altered with blue metallic rub and black ink pad. Lastly I added a few pieces of flair for an added touch of fun.
